Zoe Saldaña Unveils New Cartier Jewellery at the Oscars

Zoe Saldaña, a cherished Friend of the Maison, lit up the Oscars red carpet with the debut of Cartier’s new jewellery. Earlier this year at the Golden Globes, the actress debuted the Melis necklace and earrings as part of the Maison’s ongoing Nature Sauvage collection. This time, she unveiled Cartier’s latest High Jewellery creation: the Pantheres Versatiles necklace.

I am honoured to be the first person to wear this transformable piece of High Jewellery. Its bold creativity and magnetic energy feel like a perfect fit for the Oscars night. The transformation brings a playful and surprising element, adding to the joy of wearing it. – Zoe Saldaña

The panther wraps around the neck with a stylised head and body made sublime with a speckled vine-like cord of onyx and diamonds, guardian of a  10.10-carat Zambian emerald. The bold composition is based on a feat of savoir-faire and modularity.

The unique piece, which took 4827 hours (34 months) to make, transforms from a necklace into an original piece of shoulder jewellery, using a second strand finished with a twin panther head. It can also be worn wrapped around the wrist to become a bracelet. The panther’s piercing emerald eyes electrify the aura of this High Jewellery creation.

Personally selected by Saldaña and her stylist Petra Flannery, the necklace was chosen during an intimate meeting with Alexa Abitbol, Director of Cartier’s High Jewellery Workshop, at the brand’s iconic 13 Paix boutique.

The transformable necklace not only showcased Cartier’s exquisite craftsmanship, but also added to the brilliance of Saldaña’s night as she took home the “Best Supporting Actress” award for “Emilia Pérez”, cementing her status as both a style icon and a powerhouse talent.
