Winona Ryder and Others wore CHANEL at the 81st Venice International Film Festival

Global celebrities like Winona Ryder, Sigourney Weaver, and Taylor Russell were spotted wearing CHANEL at the 81st Venice International Film Festival Opening Ceremony. The festive night was held on August 28, 2024, at the historic Palazzo del Cinema.

The American actress and one of the lead actresses in the opening movie, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”, the highly-anticipated sequel of “Beetlejuice” by Tim Burton, brought her character’s goth aesthetics whom she portrayed to the red carpet.

She wore a custom black grain de poudre jacket and vest with a black satin collar with a white organza and crepe de chine blouse with a pleated plaston and black silk satin bow tie, and a black silk tulle skirt, inspired by look 37 from the CHANEL Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2007, paired with CHANEL shoes. 224 hours were required in the making of this look.

She also wore CHANEL make-up, and for jewellery, she wore the CHANEL LION SOLAIRE DE CHANEL ASYMMETRICAL EARRINGS in 18K white gold, diamonds ETERNEL No5 Earrings in 18K white gold and diamonds, and the COMÈTE SPINEL RING in 18K white gold, diamonds, black spinels.

Sigourney Weaver

American actress and friend of the House, Sigourney Weaver, received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. On this occasion, she wore a custom jacket fully embroidered with black sequins and a velvet mermaid skirt inspired from the CHANEL Fall-Winter 2019/20 Haute Couture collection.

This look involved 248 hours of meticulous work in the ateliers at 31, rue Cambon in Paris. She also wore CHANEL High Jewellery pieces and CHANEL make-up.

Taylor Russell

The Canadian actress and model, who is also a member of the “Luigi De Laurentiis” Jury, wore a transparent hand painted and pearls and sequins embroidered plastic corseted dress with an embroidered crinoline overskirt and a white mermaid silk chiffon underskirt, a replica of look 76 from the CHANEL Haute Couture Spring/Summer 1993, paired with CHANEL shoes.

This exquisite look is the result of 900 hours of painstaking craftsmanship, adorned with a breathtaking 70,000 intricately placed embroidered elements.

Building on the legacy of cinematic support established by Gabrielle Chanel in the 20th century, the House continues to have a prominent presence at this prestigious international event each year.
