Time International Inaugurates its First School PAUD Bina Mulya as a Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative in Education

Tangerang, 17 October 2014 – Time International recognises social care with the opening of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) Bina Mulya in Margamulya village, Mauk district, Tangerang, Banten. In collaboration with Happy Hearts Fund, Time International restores and reconstructs the school that was severely damaged by the flood.

With a corporate value of “contributing to society”, Time international is dedicated to contribute in the education sector, given its importance to improving the nation’s state of mind. “Children are the future of the nation. By building our first school, we hope to help and contribute the welfare of the community,” said Mr Irwan Danny Mussry as president and CEO of Time International.

The school opening was celebrated with a plaque dedication ceremony by Ms Charmie Hamami, Happy Hearts Fund’s Board of Directors member to Mr Irwan D. Mussry. PAUD students also gave special dance performances to appreciate the initiative. The event was witnessed by Time International management, Happy Hearts Fund Indonesia representatives, local government officers, and teachers.

“With these complete facilities, we hope that the children have the opportunity and hope to continue their studies to high school and even university degree,” said Ms Sylvia Beiwinkler CEO of Happy Hearts Fund.

The school construction began on the 27th of June 2014 marked by the groundbreaking ceremony by Mr Irwan Danny Mussry (Time International) and Ms Sylvia Beiwinkler (HHF). Employees of Time International also contributed directly to the completion of the construction through a volunteer activity on the 29th of September. At the same day, some employees had the first-hand experience with the students of PAUD through a fun education learning activity.

PAUD Bina Mulya (previously known as Paud Al-Falah) was the first and the only early childhood establishment in Margamulya village. In January 2013 and February 2014 major floods hit the village which caused severe damage to the school. There are currently more than 40 children aged 3-5 years old who are educated there. Previously, there was no toilet facility nor running water for washing hands. Classes were only divided with thin wooden boards.

After the construction, the education facilities are appropriate in the presence of three classes and one small bedroom. Study tables, computers, chairs, lockers, closets are also provided to support the teaching and studying activities. The school is also completed with a playground for the students.
