Reminiscing the Seventies with Valentino Toile Iconographe

Heritage, freedom, and creativity come together for Valentino Toile Iconographe. The VLogo Signature is the protagonist of the new collection that explores seventies allure through a hypnotic pattern. It was inspired by Maison history and challenged by the codes of the contemporary.

The word ‘toile’ (pronounced twäl) itself means ‘highly detailed decorative print, featuring repeating, monochromatic illustrations of pastoral scenes‘. It was invented in the mid-18th century and was inspired by the designs and prints found on Chinese porcelain, which often took its design cues from nature. Produced in the small French town of Jouy-in-Josas, the proper name is actually “Toile de Jouy,” or “fabric from Jouy.”

The Valentino Toile Iconographe print becomes a visual symbol of house codes, applied to ready-to-wear and must-have Valentino Garavani accessories. Red and fondant embroideries take turn, creating a fascinating chromatic dialogue that characterizes the collection.
