Time International Rebuilds Damaged Jakarta School
Another School Reconstruction with Happy Hearts Fund
Jakarta, November 18, 2015 – Time International, in collaboration with Happy Hearts Fund, is helping build a better future for Jakarta youngsters with the reconstruction of a damaged school.
The inauguration of reconstructed Strawberry Playgroup in Semper Barat, Cilincing, North Jakarta, on October 26, 2015, was attended by Mr. Irwan Danny Mussry, President and CEO of TIME International, Mr. Ronald Liem, a member of Happy Hearts Fund’s Board of Directors, Ms. Sylvia Beiwinkler, CEO of Happy Hearts Fund Indonesia, and Ms. Widya Susanti, the head of the playgroup.
“Children are our future, and so we believe we must invest in providing the best educational system and facilities for them. Reconstructing damaged schools gives them a suitable place to learn and grow,” said Mr. Mussry.
Opened in 2004, Strawberry Playgroup was previously located in a semi-finished, one-room facility. Its interior was destroyed by heavy flooding. The three-month construction and renovation project resulted in expansion of the building to include two classrooms, a teacher’s common room, a playground, as well as desks, chairs, lockers and toilets.
About 30 children, aged 3 to 6 years of age, are enrolled in the playgroup. Several of the students performed a welcome dance at the ceremony.
