MAISON VALENTINO SUSTAINABILITY REPORT 2023

LET THE BEAUTY PROSPER

Milan, 29 July 2024Valentino Group has released its second Sustainability Report for 2023, highlighting the Maison’s steadfast commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The document, prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards, provides an update on Valentino’s advancement towards the ambitious goals set in the Sustainability Strategy “Let the Beauty Prosper”, related to the three core pillars Product, People, and Planet.

The Product section focuses on the attention of the Maison to the materials and to the collaboration with the supply chain to ensure a business that is in harmony with the needs of society and of the environment. Evidence is provided of the company’s key performance indicator (KPI) on traceability, published for the first time, showing that over 70% of the key raw materials leather and fabrics, resulted to be traceable in 2023. In addition, aware that building strong relationships with the supply chain is crucial, Valentino organized its first Supplier Summit last year, involving approximately 100 key partners of the supply chain. The Company also prioritized the establishment of reliable and valid standards for raw materials, as evidenced by its membership in the Textile Exchange.

The People section outlines the concrete actions taken by the Maison in realm of social responsibility and attention to its internal and external communities. In 2023, the brand promoted the I&E Policy (Inclusivity & Equity), obtaining the Gender Equality Certification and establishing an internal committee dedicated to I&E. The reopening of the Bottega dell’ Arte, a comprehensive ten-month craftsmanship couture training program, further demonstrates Valentino’s commitment to passing down its couture excellence to younger generations. Furthermore, the Report highlights the great emphasis that the Maison places on the relationship with the Community, which is at the heart of the social sustainability agenda, by engaging in a collective dialogue and by giving back to the local communities.

Respect for the environment is a key value for the Maison, which is fully committed to protecting the planet for future generations by progressively reducing its environmental footprint. In this context the Planet section reports that in 2023, the Group’s carbon footprint (scopes 1, 2, and 3) measurement – which obtained a limited assurance to ensure the data’s robustness – decreased by 6% compared to 2022, Additionally, seven new free-standing stores worldwide obtained the LEED certification.

Approximately 90% of the energy purchased for headquarters and boutiques in Italy comes from renewable energy. Moreover, Valentino actively continued to promote the recover and reuse of set-up materials of its fashion shows in partnership with local associations and entities committed to circular creativity.

The Maison’s sustainable growth is not just a destination, but a journey committed to adopting a responsible approach to generate a continuous social and environmental positive impact.
