If colour is an idea, then choosing one also means deciding on your style. Choosing a colour is always the result of a creative spark, of momentum and movement. To wear a colour is to partly define yourself with it. To determine your destiny, and the impact you will make.
Colours are a form of self-expression. They tell the story of a mindset, an attitude, a temperament, and are imbued with meaning and symbolism that goes beyond simple aesthetics. A story of instinct and feeling that no form of logic can justify. The colours we gravitate toward say something about who we are, about the way our unique imagination manifests and chooses to reveal itself to the world. Beyond the palette, the colour of allure is a story within ourselves that is brought to light.
Through this medium of expression, the COMÈTES COLLECTIVE, formed by Valentina Li, Ammy Drammeh, and Cécile Paravina, explores the power and singularity of colour as a means of embodying the complexity and richness of every individual.

VALENTINA LI’S CHROMATIC OCEAN
This season, the CHANEL makeup style will be blue. Blue, like the sea. Blue, like the mysterious depths of the ocean. But also orange, like vibrant corals. What does this colour bring to mind? Ask this question, and you will never hear the same answer twice. Our relationship to colour is so intimate and personal. So unique. «To me, the colour blue feels like diving into the ocean. The exhilaration I experience when the waves brush against my skin. In this moment, I can really open up my imagination and let it run free. Blue is the window to the soul,» Valentina Li answers intuitively. She is the first creator in the trio to express her unique inner world through the SPRING 2024 makeup collection designed for CHANEL.
Valentina Li’s woman in blue is an extraordinary being. A mesmerizing mermaid who wears blue in a surprising, enigmatic way. Mysterious and bold like Gabrielle Chanel, she is not afraid to dive into deep waters. It is she who decides what the colour blue will reveal about her at any given moment.
Water has been my inspiration for years. I remember the first time I saw rain when I was a child. I kept asking questions about the colour of the water: why is the ocean blue and the river green? In doing so, I discovered that water and light are magical makers of colour. Water is the source of everything, including us. The appeal of my collection lies in the mystery of the colour blue, its connection to us, and the way it endlessly surprises us. I want everyone to really be able to feel that. – Valentina Li
The SPRING 2024 collection arose from the emotionally provocative nature of colour. Through this interpretation, Valentina Li has captured her vision of CHANEL style in a colour palette. A tale of self-affirmation. Unpredictable, elusive and, above all, multifaceted.
This collection’s style is characterized by a shade of blue that expresses itself in many forms, a source of inspiration drawn from the heart of the ocean depths. The glimmer of the sunlight as it reflects off the crystalline sea, the iridescence of pearls and seashells, the entrancing undulations of jellyfish, and the incredibly rich colour of corals all inspired the artist to create these various blue-toned, iridescent hues. Valentina Li’s blue encompasses her fascination with the ocean and its many secrets.

UNDERWATER LIGHT
An ocean blue highlighter that is elevated by subtle pearlescence. An exclusive creation with a sheer finish. Its embossed design, in harmony with the ocean, is reminiscent of gentle ripples dancing on the water’s surface.
To convey the magic and power of these hues through makeup, Valentina Li designed a versatile, fun-to-use, buildable product that can be worn as part of an everyday look or used to create the boldest of makeup statements. When applied in small amounts to the cheekbones, Cupid’s bow, and brow bone, it illuminates the face with cyan shimmer.
WHERE THE LAND MEETS THE SEA
The LES 4 OMBRES RIVAGE palette features the colours found along the coast, transformed into eyeshadows. Four shades represent the meeting of land and sea that inspired Valentina Li for this collection.
A satiny turquoise, a subtly satiny champagne, a luminous matte brown, and a translucent hue whose gold and pink shimmer enhances any eye look. Embossed with curved ridges that resemble ripples on the water’s surface, the four shades in the palette evoke the movement of waves.
ABYSSAL BLUE
After reaching the water’s edge, it’s time to take the plunge. With STYLO YEUX WATERPROOF Bleu Abysse, Valentina Li has created an intense matte electric blue eyeliner shade that underlines the style of those who wear it. A blue-toned hue that evokes the fantastical legends of the deep.
Apply to the upper and lower lash lines and lightly blend for a spellbinding smoky eye look.
LAGOON
The colour of the sea at sunset. The vastness and depth of the ocean. LE VERNIS Lagune, which glistens with metallic blue shimmer, draws out your style all the way down to your fingertips. Belying its apparent simplicity, it reveals a different sparkle with every movement.
MERMAID GLOW
Valentina Li has reimagined her favorite product, BAUME ESSENTIEL, in a new shade. Featuring subtle contrasting effects that are enlivened by hints of iridescent shine, the Mermaid Glow shade recreates the pearly colour of seashells by combining gold and pink shimmer. The makeup creator invites us to play around with this highly versatile product: apply it to the eyelids, the inner corner of the eyes, and the lips for mermaid-like allure and a radiant finish.
VIBRANT CORAL
To create contrast with the shades of blue featured in the collection, Valentina Li also designed a palette of coral tones. When worn together, this combination of rosy shades and ocean blue hues, inspired by the bottom of the sea, warms up the complexion.
The warm pinks and cool blues offer an overall balanced, yet out-of-theordinary, take on the marine world. I feel inspired to create fresh, feminine looks; STYLO YEUX WATERPROOF is perfect for adding a graphic blue twist to the pearlescent pink finishes. – Cécile Paravina
Valentina Li brings colour to the cheeks with ROSES COQUILLAGE, an exclusive creation in an orange hue, embossed with a design resembling ripples on the water’s surface. This two-toned blush offers multiple effects: apply one or both colours to cheeks in order to adjust the intensity of the look.
LES 4 OMBRES CORAL TREASURE, another captivating creation, takes on the hues of corals and features dazzling shades. An apricot orange, a luminous fuchsia, a lilac pink, and a semi-matte coral orange evoke the supernatural creatures that are beloved by Valentina Li.
Valentina Li designed two shades of ROUGE ALLURE LAQUE that add to the intensity of these orange shades: Sea Shell and Sea Star. One has a rosy beige shimmer that enhances the complexion, while the other warms up the face with its coral undertones.
For a more natural finish, ROUGE COCO BAUME is featured in the shades Coralline and Anémone, a brick red and an orange beige, providing either a sheer wash of colour or a bolder, more intense look. Combined with the many-hued LE VERNIS Sun Drop—a true sunset by the sea—Valentina Li’s corals form the perfect harmony. Iconic.
