MUSICAL CLOCK COUTURE WORKSHOP
The CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio, inspired by the lively atmosphere in the rue Cambon atelier, orchestrates a choreography of couture busts to the rhythms of “My Woman” by Al Bowlly, a melody that Mademoiselle liked to hum. The chandelier with diamond droplets, the plinth inspired by the upholstered sofa and the gold embellishments all evoke Gabrielle Chanel’s apartment. Mounted on a long gold chain necklace dotted with diamonds is the key for winding the mechanism of this unique piece, in which the time is displayed on tape measure. At once a musical box, a clock and an automaton, this exceptional piece was crafted by the expertise of a large team of highly skilled artisans. From the diamond-encrusted droplets of the miniature chandelier to the meticulously crafted and tuned musical mechanism, this unique creation is a tour de force of technical and aesthetic sophistication.

J12 DIAMOND TOURBILLON CALIBER 5
In 2022, CHANEL presented the new J12 DIAMOND TOURBILLON watch, a technical and aesthetic tour de force and an expression of the savoir-faire of CHANEL Watchmaking.
The Caliber 5 is the first Flying Tourbillon movement to be created in-house, designed in Paris by Arnaud Chastaingt, Director of the CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio, and developed and assembled at the CHANEL Swiss Manufacture. Equally beautiful from both the front and the back, the exposed mechanism with its highly sophisticated finish is adorned with a lion’s head, the signature of CHANEL Haute Horlogerie Manufacture movements. In a true technical tour de force, a solitaire diamond is positioned in the center of the flying tourbillon cage. Specifically cut to enhance its brilliance, the diamond rotates with the seconds, creating a hypnotic effect.
In 2024, the CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio unveils a new interpretation of the J12 Diamond Tourbillon, in matte black ceramic and white ceramic.
“The diamond was Gabrielle Chanel’s favorite stone. J12 is a muse and the CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio wanted to create a unique diamond. Set at the center of the tourbillon, the solitaire diamond follows the mechanism of the movement, lending time a rhythm that is precious and contemplative, almost hypnotic. It is set at the heart of a CHANEL Manufacture movement.”
— Arnaud Chastaingt, Director of the CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio.

PREMIÈRE
The PREMIÈRE watch has been a shining star in the world of CHANEL Watchmaking since 1987. Choosing the shape of the octagonal stopper of the N°5 perfume bottle for its black lacquer dial and borrowing the leather interlaced chain from the classic quilted handbag for its bracelet, it caused a sensation in a world that had hitherto been ruled by the codes of men’s watchmaking.
In 2024, the CHANEL Watchmaking Creation Studio reinterprets the codes of the PREMIÈRE ÉDITION ORIGINALE watch and presents two new limited editions, the PREMIÈRE CUFF watch and the PREMIÈRE SAUTOIR BELT watch. Both creations retain the audacious spirit of the PREMIÈRE watch while offering new ways of wearing them, like fashion accessories. The expanse of chain and leather framing the dial of the PREMIÈRE CUFF watch and the unconventional way of wearing the PREMIÈRE SAUTOIR-BELT watch express the modernity and timelessness of this watchmaking icon.
