To celebrate the opening of the 81st Venice Biennale International Film Festival, Cartier organised an exclusive evening in the historic setting of the San Lorenzo church.
Over the course of this special event, the Maison celebrated the musical heritage of Italian cinema. Amira Casar provided one of the highlights of the evening, lending her voice to evoke memories, dreams and emotions.
The evening began with a tribute to the lyrical voice of Maria Callas and her collaborations with Luchino Visconti, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Franco Zeffirelli, in a recital performed by mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre. It continued with a performance of several works by composer Nicola Piovani, a loyal collaborator of Marco Bellocchio, Nanni Moretti, Roberto Benigni, the Taviani brothers and Fellini, notably for his last triptych, from Ginger and Fred to The Voice of the Moon.
The dinner, orchestrated by chef Massimiliano Alajmo, was followed by a ballet performance, adding an artistic touch to this exceptional evening.
Ambassadors and Friends of the Maison also joined the evening, including Amal Clooney, Sofia Coppola, Patti Smith, Rami Malek, Tilda Swinton, Isabelle Huppert, Richard Gere, Emma Corrin, Lou Doillon, Claude Lelouch, Khatia Buniatishvili, Giuseppe Tornatore and more.
Conceived as a stroll through the musical memory of Italian cinema, this evening confirms the Maison’s longstanding commitment to cinema and its special ties with it.
