All Black, All CHANEL: Stars Light Up the 2024 Academy Museum Gala

Entertainment’s biggest names gathered at the 2024 Academy Museum Gala, which was held on Saturday, October 19, at LACMA West in Los Angeles.  At one of the starriest — and most stylish — events of the year, some of Hollywood’s most notable stars arrived draped in timeless black sophistication. Among the evening’s standouts were Margaret Qualley, Marion Cotillard, and Phoebe Tonkin, each embodied CHANEL’s iconic sophistication with their individual styles.

Margaret Qualley

American actress and CHANEL Ambassador Margaret Qualley, who recently garnered praise from the critics for her astounding performance in “The Substance”, brought the same level of poise and sophistication to the evening in her CHANEL ensemble.

She wore a black silk skirt over a black knit top and undershorts, look 46, from the House’s Spring-Summer 2024/25 Ready-to-Wear- collection. She then paired it with a pair of black CHANEL shoes and was adorned with CHANEL High Jewelry: “Lune Talisman” pendant earrings, “Zina” ring in 18k white gold and diamonds, and “Etoile Filante” head jewel in 18K white gold and diamonds.

She opted for her signature smoky eyes and rosy lips, using CHANEL makeup to complement her look. Her make-up artist for the event, Kara Yoshimoto Bua, shared a snippet of her applying CHANEL ROUGE ALLURE LAQUE to achieve subtle yet alluring pink lips.

Marion Cotillard

Marion Cotillard has never failed to amaze us with her classic French sophistication. The CHANEL Ambassador wore a custom long dress in black chiffon with a draped halter neck collar and a dress skirt embroidered with optical geometric motifs, paired with an overskirt belted with an embroidered bow, inspired by look 39, from the Fall-Winter 2022/23 Haute Couture collection.

She also wore CHANEL shoes and was adorned with CHANEL High Jewelry: “Brins de Diamants” earrings in 18k white gold and diamonds,  “Zina” bracelet in 18k white gold and diamonds, and “Coco Crush” earring in 18k white gold. Moreover, she was wearing CHANEL make up, brushed by Christophe Danchaud.

Phoebe Tonkin

Last but not least, Australian actress and CHANEL ambassador Phoebe Tonkin, wore a black organza and silk tulle embellished dress with black velvet waves, look 46, from the Spring-Summer 2023 Haute Couture collection. To complement her look, she was adorned with CHANEL High Jewelry: “Motif Russe” bracelet in 18k white gold and diamonds and “Ruban” ring in 18k white gold and diamonds.
